Holiday Travels Too Much Try Video Chat For The Holidays

Traveling for the holidays is not only expensive but it can be quite the hassle in terms of logistics and scheduling. Take our family for instance we happen to live in the southern part of the country and the majority of our family member live in the north with the closest relatives living approximately six hours away. That’s on a good day of traffic free driving of course which is something that most of us will have little chance of seeing if you do drive somewhere during the holidays.

Unfortunately for us this year the scheduling of vacation time for either side of the family is not going to work for us this year so we will not be able to do the old family drive down the road for the holidays this year. We are planning to get together sometime in January after all the craziness is over and the roads are not as crowded and the costs will not be so much.

In the mean time we have decided to take advantage of technology this holiday season and we are going to do more than the Thanksgiving and Christmas phone call to family we are going to try and pull off the video chat. We are still debating on which service we are going to use either Skype or maybe Google video chat will be the services that we use. I know it’s a bummer to not be able to be with family during the holiday season especially for the kids that will miss out on seeing cousins and grandparents.

Hopefully this will be a cool option that they will think is a neat memory to have some day. OK webfolk now it’s your turn, what are some other creative ways to connect with family during the holidays when the travel thing is just not going to work out for you either because of time or money. Leave your cool ideas in the comments section down below.

Kudos to you webfolk ;-)
