Do you seek out advice from other people or are you the type of person that other people always seem intent on giving advice to even though you did not ask for it. Everyone we meet at some point has a piece of advice to impart to us, of course it’s up to your own personal filter to figure out when and what advice you are going to follow. Advice comes in every form for any subject from relationships, careers, schools, religion, health and of course the really hot topic now a days politics.
I can totally appreciate people having a political opinion and wanting to express those opinions with signs, bumper stickers, buttons or volunteering your time. That is one of the great things about the US is that you are permitted to have your own opinion and vote the way you want to vote. I take issue with those people that are passionate about their politics and feel the need to give “advice” on why their political view or candidate is the right choice and why I should vote for them.
Even better than that is when people give you “advice” on why your political views or the candidate you are going to vote for is wrong. Depending how passionate they are about their political views will determine how “wrong” your way of thinking is. Honestly, I totally appreciate people that get that passionate about their politics you all just need to pull it back a bit sometimes a whole lot on how you go about voicing your political opinions. I think those people that see politics as one sided are missing the point and beauty of living in the country that we do live in. So here’s my advice for those of you that are strong willed about your when you meet someone that is just as strong willed but on the other side of the political fence, learn to agree to disagree and move on! Otherwise you will be stuck wasting your time and your energy giving “advice” to someone that will not hear it or use it.
