Here are some simple keys to getting better communication with anyone in a one to one situation. These tips are actually quite simple and at certain point in your life you have most likely executed a few of them. The problem of course is that you were not aware that you were doing these things so it may only happen for you randomly.
Have you ever met a complete stranger and instantly hit it off as if there was some kind of magic happening. Of course you have and so have all the rest of us. That’s the point of course is that we all have these abilities we are just not aware of them. It’s all in your body language my friend, of course we have all heard that communication is better than half of language going on when you are talking to another person face to face. Better than half!!!
So don’t you think it would be a good idea to at least learn some of the basics of reading body language and therefore becoming more aware of the signals you are indeed sending yourself. Imagine the power you would add to your communication skills if you learned body language.
Here are some examples of simple things you can try out to see what the power of body language can have during a face to face conversation. When speaking to someone face to face notice if they are standing how they are standing if they are straight up or leaning on one leg or crossed arms. Now here is what you do as you get into the conversation subtly now mind you try and match their stance placement of their arms whatever it is. If they are sitting with legs crossed a certain way if possible you do the same thing. You see what you are doing is aligning your body signals to theirs establishing a common bond that will put you both at ease thus creating a more comfortable feeling during the conversation. Notice the tone and speed at which the person is speaking do the same with that as well. Again these are subtle changes that you can test out, don’t be blatantly copying the persons every movement. You will be amazed what syncing of body languages will do for your conversation skills. There are some great books on matching and reading body language. Please share your opinions on the value of reading a persons body language and thanks for eading.
